“GLOCAL” Corporate Philosophy, Seeking New Changes in 2012

In commemoration of the 39th Commerce and Industry Day commemoration event, government awards including medals were given to those of merit who not only set a good example for others through successful business management, but also contributed to the growth and development of our economy. In Vietnam, G-Tech Vietnam Mr. Lee Soon-hyuk(General Director) and Global Dyeing Mr. Lee Kang-yeol(General Director) received the Minister of Knowledge Economy commendation. Therefore, we had an interview with Mr. Lee Soon-hyuk, General Director of G-Tech Vietnam, exclusively for this magazine.
Q: G-Tech is celebrating its 10th anniversary since its foundation in 2002. What is your corporate management philosophy?
A: “Customer Satisfaction by Glocal”. Glocal is a compound word of global and local, and is also a word in the Oxford dictionary. Through the glocal concept, we have been striving to create a company that is globalized while adapting to the local culture. Since G-Tech establishment in 2002, it has achieved the best sales performance in 2005. I think the reason that good performance was possible within a short period of time was due to the favorable timing and the fact that a lot of localization was achieved through the glocal concept.
Q: What is the status of ongoing projects in 2012?
A: Kyungbang Group is constructing the first cotton yarn factory (natural fiber) in Binh Duong Province with an investment of 40 million dollars as the first project in Vietnam. and there are Lock & Lock injection plant in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Phil Inter pharma’s pharmaceutical plant, Hyosung plant, etc. In particular, the construction of the Hyosung plant, which produces tire coils, is the largest customer our company has been steadily working on.
Q: What is your most current focus on managing company?
A: In fact, it can be said that we have targeted a niche market that is between large construction companies and small construction companies. However, since December 2011, restructuring of the company is the most important issue to be a larger company and sustainable growth. To this end, we are paying great attention to the training of our employees. In addition, maintenance is being carried out through the allocation of professional manpower and an effective management system.
Q: G-Tech is doing a lot of social contribution in various fields, although quietly, such as participating as a sponsor for a concert event to invite world-class French classical musicians to be held next month (May 16).
A: Vietnam gave me a chance, so I started thinking about giving back to society. Internally, i am concentrated on the welfare of our employees. And i am helping to build a strong economic foundation by providing a certain amount of special support to employees who have worked for more than 5 years. Externally, I am participating in social donation events conducted by the People’s Committee and Red Cross organizations. It is a very welcoming atmosphere as it is a foreign company participation, and I feel it is worthwhile.
Global Dying (CEO Mr. Lee Kang-Yeol), which won the award together with General Director Mr. Lee Soon-Hyuk of G-Tech, was established in 2005 as a dyeing factory for Hansol Textile’s Vietnamese subsidiary.
